A new Butler Robotics system from @quilt_ez and longarm with 8ft frame will be arriving next week so I can start doing computerized edge quilting on my quilts. In preparation, I was looking for class M bobbin storage solutions and …….

Around that time I saw that @prideandjoyquilting and her two boys were making and selling these darling bobbin holders ( comes in class 15 too)! I knew I wanted to support those hard working boys ( you will too when you see her videos of the boys making these 🥰). They even included a hand written note. Thanks boys! I love mine and you did a great job 🧡.

Well, had some unexpected surgery again 😕. A slight complication arose 8 months after my hysterectomy so by the time this posts, I’ll be recovering from my surgeon having to go in and fix me up. Not looking forward to the after effects of anesthesia and feeling like I was hit by a Mac truck but it’s all necessary.

Any who…. I had left over Yellowstone fabrics from @benartex_fabrics from when I made him a thank you quilt after my hysterectomy so I decided to make him 5 scrub hats. 👨‍⚕️ Nothing like making the operation room fun right? 😆 It was a great project to ease into using my @babylocksewing Imagine air threader serger I’ve had for three years 🙈. I’m a fan! Anybody else fallen in love with clean serged seams? 🙌🏻

Here’s what’s cool about it… my friend is having a girl and she told me she didn’t want the colors to be pink just because she was a girl but rather wanted her to be exposed to other colors. The baby room theme is jungle animals so I went with these happy colors. She messaged me to let me know they love it! 🥰 So here’s to letting children be exposed to all the colors!

Hey Hey Hey 🧵. Just finished up my first #aurifilartisan June Challenge and boy it was fun! We were challenged to use any of the threads in our welcome boxes to whip up something creative. I decided on a tote using the cute flower template from my #friendshipbloomsquilt pattern 🌼.

I had some beautiful Sateen Cotton from @benartex_fabrics with a shine that had to be made into a special tote for a special nurse who has gone above and beyond. 👩‍⚕️ My welcome box had just the perfect colors of green and yellow for the project so I went with green 80wt for piecing and then 28wt for Sashiko machine stitches. Lastly, I used a bold 12wt to appliqué down the flower. Woop Woop 🙌🏻 to being able to use THREE of the threads in my box! My Baby Lock Sashiko machine loved the 28wt 🤩.

The tote wouldn’t be complete without French seams, granny square handles and a label from @sarahhearts 😉.

I taught my Easy Cathedral Window class last week for @bellepointquilters guild and these were my demo fabrics ( Blushed Houndstooth from Benartex). I finished turning my block into an envelope pillow and decided to use a decorative ivy stitch on my Juki DX4000QVP for some special quilting. Now we FINALLY have a decorative pillow to match our bedspread 😆!

Thanks to all who stopped by the @craftindustryalliance booth here at H&H for my #englishpaperpiecing demo using leave in stabilizer from @thermoweb . Three people left the booth to go buy supplies to stitch some up on their flights home today 👏🏼 . As a member of the CIA, we also celebrated our 10 year anniversary and it’s all due the amazing Executive Director @abbyglassenberg 🎉. The CIA helps put on this wonderful trade show.

Wonderful viewing tonight of the new documentary The Quilters @thequiltersdoc here at H&H Americas quilting trade show in Chicago. It will be available to watch on Netflix on May 16th. It’s about the male quilters at a maximum security prison in Missouri who make quilts for foster kids and it’s quite fascinating.

This is one of two of their quilts on display here that travel with the movie screenings 🎥.

Reunited and it feels so good 👯‍♀️! Happy to be with @theretroquilter at @hhamericas quilting trade show. We kicked off the event at the Creator Party for networking and then Sample It 🛒 . We ended up only leaving with one purchase @amodexproducts stain remover! It’s our favorite. It got out a sewing machine oil stain on my dress a few weeks ago 🙌🏻.

The quilt behind us was made by the men of the @thequiltersdoc and is on display here at H&H Americas. We are thrilled to be able to watch the film screening on Thursday evening. 🎥

Ahhhhh… my custom acrylic insert from @sewsteadytables arrived for my @arrowsewing Sydney XL sewing cabinet. I’ve been using the extension table that came with my Juki DX4000 as a substitute for the last several weeks.

If you’ve ever had to sew on top of a surface ( I did for 3 years) then get a cabinet for your machine to drop down into, it’s a whole new wonderful sewing world! It’s all flush sewing 🙌🏻.

Let’s talk about quilty friendships👯‍♀️. Maude @theretroquilter and I first met online in a Dresden challenge event in May of 2021. She’s in Niagara Canada and I’m in Arkansas, USA… miles apart. Then we both enrolled in @quilters_candy pattern writing course that year and immediately bonded over talked business strategy, challenges and successes. And oh what a fun ride it’s been together as we’ve watched each other grow and pivot for these last 4 years.

She’s that quilty friend who’s loyal and there for you in good times and bad. She flew down to Arkansas when I relocated back here in 2023 and completely helped me unpack and set up my new studio. It took four 10 hr days! Although we only see each other at Quilting Market, Quilt Con or H&H most years ( this time it’s been 1 hr and 8 months), it feels like she lives right next door. I’m so appreciative of this Golden Girl ⭐️

Running a quilty business can be isolating and there’s so many days we need sounding boards, a cheerleader or a confidant. And some days we just need a quilty friend to vent to who understands us and all that’s involved in being a Quilterpreneur. It’s funny how she and I are so also much alike and yet different at the same time. We embrace our similarities and respect our differences.

Maude surprised me with a box of happy mail yesterday and I want to share with you what she shared with me. 🧡 She has a big heart and I can’t wait to see her in two weeks at @hhamericas trade show!

A friend of ours passed this past November and I offered to make memory pillow for his wife and son. I’ve made Dresdens many times but this was a first to use ties. Last night on #threadlifewithbelle , I showed my process when making the second of these pillows ( minus skipping over a step 🙈 at first).

I plan to make zip pouches out of some of the scraps for the granddaughters but will definitely use interfacing to stabilize the thin silk.

Have you made a memory pillow out of ties before? What did you think about working with silk and polyesters? 🤪

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month. A few years ago, I launched my #lovelypinwheelsquilt pattern in recognition of this special awareness month due to being a former social worker in my 20’s and still doing some consulting work with Children’s Advocacy Centers throughout the country with my other business.

Each April I encourage guilds & quilters to make a child size Lovely Pinwheels quilt and donate it to their local Child Advocacy Center or other child abuse serving organization. I’ll be giving away the pattern Live on YouTube via a download link for you to use if you want to make the full quilt.

This year I invite you to join me LIVE on my Thread Life With Belle YouTube Channel tomorrow Friday April 11th at 1pm CST to make the two different pinwheel blocks together from your scraps/stash.

Finally finished up all of my scrappy #friendshipbloomsquilt blocks yesterday 🙌🏻. I used @benartex_fabrics Blushed Houndstooth fat quarters to give it some texture. This is the small lap/ square version ( comes in 3 other sizes). Now to sew on the sashing, cornerstones and borders! The Quilt Folk Arkansas edition is now available in the Quiltiverse as of yesterday. I’m happy to share with you some the photos they took while here back in snowy January capturing my quilt story. They spent time on our family property where our quilting retreat center is located and then back to my home and studio for most of the day. @azureeholloway is a wonderful photographer and made me so comfortable as well as her partner & stylist @trevorholloway who took amazing drone footage of our bluffs. They felt like family. I also very much enjoyed working with the editor @missbmarie24 and the journalist who wrote my story @meg4quilts . They are all truly lovely lovely people. 🧡

I was so honored to represent our sweet rural Montgomery County in the Ouachita National Forest in this edition and was so happy to share our slice of paradise with them and now with all of you. Oh happy day 😃! A few weeks ago I got a new sewing machine ( Juki DX4000 QVP Expert Edition) which means I needed a new XL sewing cabinet since this is a larger computerized machine. My other Juki TL is in the Eleanor table from @arrowsewing . My friends from Arrow sent me this beautiful Sydney Lite XL Duel Electric Rail Sewing cabinet and it just arrived via freight from @odfl 🚚 ( shout out to Kenny the helpful driver) today!

They sent me this box last year when I was a #benartexambassador2024 and I finally decided they would be perfect for a scrappy #friendshipbloomsquilt 🌸 for @hhamericas in May. What is it about freshly cut, stacked and organized fabrics when starting a new quilt? 🤩 I’m starting a scrappy version of my #friendshipbloomsquilt for @hhamericas in May. I’ve had a Fat Quarter Box of #blushedhoundstoothfabric from @benartex_fabrics since early last year and I knew these would be perfect to finally use for this pattern. Did you know that Benartex has numerous ‘basics’ collections like this? When you want to use a solid but want some texture to it, using one of their basics is the way to go 🙌🏻.

Let talk quilty hair accessories! My friends at @heyricochet launched these clips right before Quilt Con but mine didn’t arrive in time so I’m sporting it around here in my studio 😉. They come in various colors and quilt blocks and are so stinking cute! 🤩 Bonus- she handmakes them!! Mine is the size small.

My friends at @novodonquilting sent me their new XL 💯 Merino Wool Pressing Mat to try out! And boy was it time for a new one 😣. Their mat is thicker than my last one and this one doesn’t have an icky strong smell 👃. It definitely keeps in the heat which is vital for the flattest seams.

I LOVED that I was able to custom cut mine down a bit to fit my pressing station perfectly 🙌🏻. They have this XL size 22x60 or 17x 13.5.
